Potters stars' surprise visit makes Sutton Coldfield school day magical
Harry Potter star Rupert Grint swapped Hogwarts for Sutton's Bishop Walsh this week when he surprised students with a magical distraction from lessons.

Harry Potter actors Rupert Grint and Oliver Phelps pay a surprise visit to Sutton Coldfields Bishop Walsh RC School.

Rupert and his co-star Oliver Phelps, who play Ron and George Weasley in the Hollywood blockbusters, held a question and answer session with students at the secondary school on Tuesday morning.

They visited the catholic school in Wylde Green Road after sixth form student Sarah Cotter, 17, won an online competition.

As well as the personal appearance, the prize included a copy of the latest dvd, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part two, for every child at the school.

Deputy head Clive Wright said a thousand pupils packed the school hall for a glimpse of the actors.

He said: "We did some subterfuge and told them a bishop was coming from America. They knew something wasn't quite right.

"The majority of staff didn't know either and we told them it was a secret.

"Only the senior team of eight knew and even Sarah didn't know, but her parents did.

"It was at 9am and the kids were just ecstatic."

Mr Wright said the film stars spent around two and a half hours at the school, answering questions and signing books and dvds.
