| Ye-Hah! Bucking Bronco raises funds for St Giles Hospice |
Daring equestrian enthusiasts put their riding skills to the ultimate test at a rip-roaring rodeo in aid of St Giles Hospice.
Riders saddled up for a turn on a bucking bronco machine at the fundraiser held at Horsepower Equestrian centre, near Lichfield.
The rodeo, which was organised by Horsepower Equestrian owners Mary Waters and Yvette Austin, raised the magnificent sum of £680 for St Giles Hospice.
The event, which took place on Sunday 25th September at the venue in Burton Road, Streethay, was well supported by generous members of the centre and their families who also dug deep to buy raffle and tombola tickets.
Helen Relihan, Head of Fundraising for St Giles Hospice, says: We would like to thank the organisers and everybody who supported the rodeo at Horsepower Equestrian especially those who were brave enough to tackle the bucking bronco.
We are constantly amazed by the imaginative ways that people dream up to support us, and the rodeo is the perfect example of how fundraising for St Giles Hospice can be lots of fun.
St Giles Hospice is a registered charity offering high-quality specialist care free of charge for people with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as providing support for their families and carers.
Patients come from across the hospices catchment area, which ranges from Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Atherstone in the east, to Cannock and Walsall in the west and from Burton and Uttoxeter in the north, to Sutton Coldfield and Coleshill in the south.
Care is offered at the hospices facilities in Sutton Coldfield and Whittington, between Lichfield and Tamworth, or in patients own homes across the region, as well as at St Giles Walsall Hospice, the charitys new 12-bed in-patient facility, which is now open.
St Giles spends over £8 million a year providing its specialist services and with little more than a third of this funded by the Government, the registered charity relies heavily on donations and fundraising from the local community
