A teenage girl has been seriously hurt after a car careered off the road to the edge of a ditch near Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.

The vehicle was found perched over a five foot deep drainage ditch after colliding with a Heavy Goods Vehicle on the A446, between Bassetts Pole and The Belfry, on Monday.

A sixteen year old girl, who was a passenger in the car, suffered wrist, chest and leg injuries in the smash, which happened at around 9.40pm. She was taken by ambulance to hospital for emergency treatment.
