Sutton Coldfield MP promises to carry on his hard work - local news
Andrew Mitchell, who was elected as MP for Sutton Coldfield in 2001, has vowed to continue his work in parliament to make sure Sutton Coldfields concerns are heard at a national level.

The 54-year-old, who is married with two children, was born in London and spent a lot of his early life in the Midlands.

Mr Mitchell said: I am standing on my record as a hard working and effective MP over the last nine years.

I have worked hard to represent the interests of the town and to represent individual constituents. That to me is the essence of being an MP.

He said protecting Sutton Coldfield from overdevelopment was important: Suttons residents are at the receiving end of Labours dreadful planning rules which have led to a significant increase in suburban gardens being ripped up and replaced with blocks of flats, he said.

A Conservative government will abolish arbitrary Whitehall density targets, reverse Labours classification of gardens as brownfield land, allow councils to prevent overdevelopment and stop garden grabbing.

He added: We need to substantially reduce immigration - the Conservatives will put an annual limit on work permits, close up the gaping loophole around student visas, and insist that anyone who comes here to be married can speak English.

If elected I will work with all local interests towards a cleaner, greener, safer Sutton and will use my close relationships with Suttons charities, organistations and businesses to promote all thats good in our town.

The overwhelming number of people I meet in Sutton Coldfield are aghast at the prospect of another five years of Gordon Brown.
