Rain puts dampner on Sutton Coldfield hopes - local news
Sutton Coldfields fight for survival in the Birmingham League was put on hold this week after rain completely washed out their game with Coleshill.

With only five games left to play, Sutton are still 35 points adrift of safety and will attempt to close the gap at Wolverhampton side Fordhouses on Saturday.
Sutton were given a shot in the arm by their second string who made the most of a break in the weather to beat St Georges by seven wickets.

Terrific bowling by Abu Pervaiz who picked up five for 35 and Martin Ball who bagged four for 31 helped reduce St Georges to 128 all out.

Monty Foley-Williamson made sure Sutton didnt allow matters to slip by scoring 74 not out while James Ingram and Harry Betts both offered support.

However the second string remain rooted to the bottom of the Warwickshire Sunday league after losing out by seven wickets to Olton.

On Saturday, the seconds host Walmley this week at Rectory Park, Sutton Coldfield.
